This seems to be a common issue. It’s not that it’s ethanol. A good distillery with “clean” alcohol can make a decent smelling hand sanitizer. Yeah since the outbreak started a whole bunch of these distilleries have started making hand sanitizer too since they have so much alcohol and it always sold out. This leads to very weird smelling and liquidy hand sanitizers, at least they all do the same thing.

Yeah, ethanol’s pretty common, especially when it might be used around children. It sounds crazy, but if you think about it for a minute, you’d definitely rather give a kid a wicked hangover than accidentally blind them or kill them… Methanol is the one that makes you blind, and it’s not used for sanitization. Isopropyl may be used though, which is less dangerous than methanol bad more than ethanol.
