Oh, it definitely doesn’t teach them to not do the thing. But it does teach them to STOP doing the thing at the moment which is still good. Kinda ruins the effect of it as a training tool in my experience though. My cat doesn’t stop doing things when I spray her because she’s learned that me reaching for the spray bottle means she should run away– and that’s totally separate from whatever she was doing before. Pretty sure she thinks its a game.
