Can I just say how refreshing of a response this is to read? My grandma is a clean freak, and my mom (who adores animals) got a puppy when she was a kid (from her parents) but they wouldn’t let it stay in the house- only outside. I’ve always had problems with my parents. My dad was emotionally abusive and my mom, although not abusive, always covered for him.
