I find it weird how global western culture has become, even before the internet was widely adopted. I have the same experience watching Land Before Time, Lion King, and Funny Dinosaur T Rex Face Mask Back To School After Quarantine Shirt even more obscurely All Dogs Go To Heaven as a kid even though I am on the other side of the world growing up in a very different setting. That one was worse because of the cigar-smoking evil ass bulldog. Damn, that was nightmare serum to my untouched mind. That was a depressing movie as a kid as well. In the original book, the protagonist’s name is Funny Dinosaur TRex Face Mask Back To School After Quarantine Shirt Mrs. Frisby, but by the time the film was coming out, Frisbee was a very famous company, and they were afraid of a lawsuit, so they renamed her Mrs. Brisby. Kids shows and movies used to include tragedy and loss because they are a part of life. Add to this list “An American Tail” and “Secret of Nimh” which are outright depressing movies aimed at kids. I rewatched American Tail with my daughter recently and now having the knowledge of the historical context makes that movie far more tragic.
